Legacy That Speaks for Itself
Over four decades into this battle with HIV/AIDS, I've walked the walk — and sometimes crawled. But through it all, I’ve kept speaking. Not for headlines, not for pity — but because truth doesn’t ask permission.
This page is a collection of interviews, features, articles, and appearances where that truth has been shared. From newsrooms to magazines, documentaries to digital spotlights — every link below is proof that this voice won’t be silenced. Not now. Not ever.
If you're here to learn, to listen, or to share — welcome aboard.
And if you're with the media and looking to connect, scroll down and hit me up.
Let’s keep the story alive. For me. For the fallen. For the ones still fighting.
NEVER SURRENDER! NEVER FORGET!
This book isn’t just a memoir—it’s a living, breathing battle cry.
The True Tale of One Tough Pirate takes you through 42+ years of grit, grace, and gut punches. From hospital beds to Harley rides, youth outreach to righteous rage, it's all here. Unfiltered. Unpolished. Unapologetically real.
This is where legacy meets lifeblood—where truth lives on the page, not just the past.
Stay tuned. It’s coming in hot.
This docuseries isn’t built for comfort. It’s built to bear witness.
The Gospel According to One Tough Pirate dives deep into the scars, the streets, the sacred moments, and the fire that won’t quit. It’s survival school from the front lines—not the sidelines.
Through interviews, footage, and holy hell truth-telling, this is the gospel according to grit, loss, faith, and fight.
Watch closely. The message was never meant to be quiet.
Over four decades into the HIV/AIDS epidemic, you’d think we’d know the truth: HIV doesn’t care who you are — it cares what you do. And yet, in the public’s mind and in far too many corners of the HIV world, the image of a heterosexual man living with HIV is almost invisible. That’s not an accident. It’s the result of a long history of misperception, stigma, and erasure.
For straight men — and especially straight Black men — that invisibility is even sharper. In 2015, journalist Freddie Allen wrote an important piece for the NNPA News Wire highlighting how heterosexual Black men were largely absent from the United States Conference on AIDS, and how this absence continues to shape the epidemic.

I lived this shit. For decades, I’ve spoken to youth, to crowds, to anyone who would listen—not because I wanted recognition, but because I had to. Because HIV/AIDS wasn’t just some distant crisis to me; it was my life. My reality. My battle.
~ Bob Bowers
I’m not just living with HIV—I survived the ‘80s.
Back when a diagnosis was a death sentence and hope was in short supply, I kept breathing, fighting, rising.
42 years later, I’m still here—proof that strength outlives stigma.
My tattoos speak when I can’t.
They carry the names, the battles, the prayers, and the promises.
Each one marks a moment—of pain, purpose, faith, and fight.
They remind me where I’ve been, what I’ve lost, and who I refuse to become. This skin is my armor, my journal, my battle flag.
