One Tough Pirate Music: Scoring My Own Damn Life
I’m not here to compete with mainstream music. I'm also not here to blend into the background. I’m a 43-year survivor living my life out loud, combining my real history with an overwhelming, lifelong passion for music.
My tracks are a collision of raw story and modern technology. I proudly use AI tools like Suno to dial in the exact late-night moods, cinematic textures, and heavy rhythms I want to create, and have longed to hear. It's pretty incredible to hear your own life reflected in a song you actually like, regardless of the technology or the people involved. I’m not trying to fool anyone and I’m not hiding the process—I'm just a survivor using every tool available to share my truth, my way.
The Road to Independence
The choice to build this library came out of real creative necessity. Years ago, during the production of The Fire Within—the first documentary about my journey—the brutal reality of corporate music rights and copyrights hit front and center. The director/producer wanted to use Moby’s track "South Side" for the trailer. It was awesome, fit the mood perfectly, and we loved the song, but it never got used for the trailer or the documentary due to royalties and denial.
Music has helped me through life like nothing else, but given the unique scope of my 43-year journey, mainstream music rarely reflects my actual life. For decades, the independent tools to fix that simply didn't exist.
That changed a while back when I stumbled across the music of Georgia Phantom. The sound gave me new life and hope at a time when I desperately needed the right music to help tell my story. I did my research, discovered how AI was being used to help craft those tracks, found Suno, and never looked back.
Turn It Up
Thank God I've lived long enough, and waited long enough, to see a time when I can create music that directly mirrors my life story. I am doing my absolute best to incorporate every real fact about my life into these tracks, using these modern tools to craft the exact feeling each memory deserves. I stand incredibly grateful for the tools to better share my life.
Just like the real world, there's plenty of music out there to choose from. Some is unforgettable, and some we just move along from. For those of you who happen to enjoy the sound, the sweat, and the feel of these tracks, that makes me smile.
Turn that shit up.
Fight on! Rock on! And never f'n surrender!
